July 11—PiRRRate Concert with Rockin’ Ron the Friendly Pirate
Rockin’ Ron the Friendly Pirate captivates kids of all ages with his pirate-themed music, clever lyrics, and endless pirate speak! He has produced three albums of original music and plays in venues all over New England, though he is always happy to return to his home port-o-call at Smuggler’s Notch in Vermont. He is excited to once again return to the Library Arts Center in one of his favorite “ports”… NewPORT, that is!
July 18—Musician Kathy Lowe presents a Family Concert
Musician Kathy Lowe is a perennial favorite here at the Library Arts Center! She loves sharing clever songs and stories, and is always encouraging us to remember our connection to nature. Kathy will bring hundreds of instruments with her to get everyone present involved with the concert–making music together!
July 25—Storyteller Simon Brooks presents Stories from Nature
Stories for all the family! Care providers will enjoy British storyteller Simon Brooks as much as the young do with his sharp wit aimed at all. Stories from all over the world. Simon has been working on new stories, some requested by his fans! Come and listen and see this performing telling stories to take to far, far away where some are able to live happily ever after – however that is not always the case!
August 1st—Hampstead Stage Company presents The Jungle Book
Rudyard Kipling’s novel, The Jungle Book, comes to life as Mowgli, an abandoned “man cub” raised by wolves, embarks on an adventure in the jungle. Through the use of puppets and masks, we meet Baloo the bear and Bagheera the black panther, who guide Mowgli on his journey. Mowgli must escape from Kaa, the python, and defeat Shere Khan, the tiger. Join us on a daring quest, discovering the importance of family and a heroic battle of good versus evil. Recommended ages 5+
**Bring a blanket or a lawn chair as the morning dew often makes the ground a bit moist!
The Summer Performances for Kids are made possible by generous support from the Friends of the Richards Free Library
