Alex Cumming is an English Singer, Accordionist, Pianist, Dance Caller and Workshop Leader originally from Somerset and now living in Boston, MA. Get to Know the Nyckelharpa with Bronwyn Bird & Justin Nawn  |  Thurs. July 30th, 10:30am

Find out about the mechanics and rich history of this fascinating Swedish instrument—the Nyckelharpa! Bronwyn Bird and Justin Nawn are the co-founders of the Birdhouse Center for the Arts in Lambertville, NJ, and have a common passion for the power of music to build community, as well as this unusual traditional instrument. Their show is equally entertaining and educational.   Perfect for all ages.

Music to Inspire Leadership & Activism with Alastair Moock  |  Thurs. July 16th, 10:30am

Grammy-nominated Boston songwriter Alastair Moock presents a concert that celebrates diversity, inclusion, history and fun, steeped in various American musical styles from roots rock to bluegrass to blues. Moock says that children aren’t just our future, they’re our present. This fun virtual concert honors the power of youth to make positive change, as Moock looks to the heroes of our past (Dr. King, Harvey Milk, Billie Jean King, Pete Seeger, Cesar Chavez, Rosa Parks, Malcolm X) and our present (Malala Yousafzai, Congressman John Lewis, the Parkland student protestors, climate change marchers) to inspire kids to take a stand for the causes they believe in. Matt and Shannon Heaton

We are thrilled to kick off our 2020 Virtual Performance Series with this fabulous with musicians Matt & Shannon Heaton from the Boston area! Matt and Shannon present traditional and modern Irish music on a variety of traditional instruments such as the bouzouki, tin whistle, flute, accordion and guitar. Join us for the final show in this year’s virtual series! Musician Eric McDonald presents a show of traditional tunes from Scotland & Ireland. Eric is no stranger to performing at the Arts Center, and has presented a number of shows–both on the gallery stage, as well as in this year’s virtual series.
