15 Main Street Exhibit of artwork by the Differently Abled Adults Watercolor Class– Opening Reception Thursday, February 2 5:30-6:30. The exhibit will be on display during Winter Carnival Arts Center events, and during 15 Main Arts Center Classes.

The “Prodigals” Return: Newport Native Writers
Thursday & Friday, May 11 & 12
Over the course of these two days a group of Newport natives who have had success across a wide range of writing genres, from fiction to poetry to nonfiction to children’s literature, will return to the Sunshine Town to conduct workshop at the library and arts center, perform readings, and talk about how they became published writers.

Saturday, May 20- Sunshine Town Social: an event for the ARTS in partnership with the Newport Opera House Association. This benefit dinner and auction with live music and entertainment raises much needed funds for these two community arts organizations. This year’s auction will be 1960s themed in conjunction with the Arts Center’s 50th anniversary year.
Back to the Future: Sustaining your nonprofit in the decades ahead
Wednesday, May 24, 5:30pm The Library Arts Center opens its annual board development up to any and all working on boards to help better the greater community. Ellen Koenig, seasoned nonprofit board trainer will explore key questions that every board member should be asking themselves about their organization, for planning now and into the future. Bring your questions and experiences as we discuss the real-world situations we face, discuss possible solutions and learn from each other.

Volunteers for Peace International Work Camp

Newport will host a Volunteers for Peace Work Camp of youth volunteers from around the world. These volunteers will be engaged in many projects around the community including assisting in art classes at the Arts Center while here.

Apple Pie Crafts Fair
Saturday, August 26 9am-3pm on the town common- 120+ regional crafts people fill the common, live music day- long, as well as the legendary Apple Pie sale and contest. The Library Festival including huge book sale and cookie walk are across the road the same day.
Fall Into Quilts: Soo Nipi Quilt Guild Biennial Quilt Exhibit
