Next Yoga Session starts June 25th!

Yoga class offerings are temporarily on break through the beginning of June, with all classes resuming starting on June 25th.  Check out Brianna new offerings at a mix of indoor and outdoor locations!

Yoga on the Common

Recommended Yoga Guidelines we will be following, based on recommendations from the CDC and State of NH Re-opening Task Force:

  • No gear will be shared among participants. 
  • Students will be asked to stay in their own space.

  • Most yoga mats are 6 feet x 2 feet.  The instructor will ensure that everyone is spread out so that all mats have at least 2 feet in every direction so that they are at least 8′ apart. 

  • Masks are required for indoor classes as you enter the building and travel to your designated space.

TO REGISTER for YOGA CLASSES:

1) Fill out a LIABILITY WAIVER at least once annually.

2) PAY for either individual sessions or a four-class pass. (Online HERE or at the door.)

**Drop ins are welcome if space is available.  Pre-registered participants will have priority.

*PLEASE NOTE:   Refunds will only be given when the instructor is unable to teach his/her class, and no certified substitute is available.  Participants are welcome to carry their class payment amount over to use for another yoga class within the same calendar year.

Starting June 26th – Saturday Mornings, 9:00-10:00am

Yoga on Saturday mornings is back for this five week block! This socially distanced class will adhere to all current regulations for in-person yoga classes during COVID-19.  Brianna will keep all participants aware of these regulations to ensure that everyone is able to safely enjoy in-person yoga classes again, or can tune in from home.  This class is designed for any student looking to practice yoga. Movement will be linked with breath (as offered by the Hatha and Kripalu traditions of yoga), as well as focus on alignment, and attention paid to honoring your own organic movement. Students can expect to practice both seated and standing poses as well as focus on balance and breath.  Please bring your own mat and any props you would like, as sharing supplies is discouraged at this point.  

Gentle Flow/Restorative Yoga – Monday Evenings (ongoing), 5:30-6:30pm

This session is for all practitioners looking to start their week from a place of ease, restoration, and stillness.  We will use gear to find additional support to create space in our tight muscles and joints in postures that will be held for several moments. Breath work, meditation, gratitude, guided rest, and mindful movement are all offered as part of this practice.

Please bring your own mat and any props you would like, as sharing supplies is discouraged at this point.  

Chair Yoga Outdoors! – Friday Mornings (ongoing), 10:00-11:00am

Chair Yoga is one of the gentlest forms of yoga available.  Students perform postures with the aid of a chair, experiencing all the benefits of yoga while alleviating the need for getting up and down from the floor. This class is appropriate for all levels of students–from beginner to advanced–looking for a slow, steady, and purposeful practice. Variations and modifications to all poses will be offered, as well as attention paid to safe body alignment and use of gear / props. Breath work, meditation, gratitude, guided rest, and mindful movement are all offered as part of this practice.  *Chairs that have been properly sanitized will be provided. Please bring any other mats or props you would like, as sharing equipment is discouraged at this point.

 

Outdoor All Levels Yoga – Friday Mornings (ongoing), 8:30-9:30am on the Newport Town Common–beginning Fri. June 25th

This class is our seasonal outdoor class!  As long as it’s not downpouring, we will be finding our zen in nature.  This class is designed for any student looking to practice yoga. Movement will be linked with breath (as offered by the Hatha and Kripalu traditions of yoga), as well as focus on alignment, and attention paid to honoring your own organic movement. Students can expect to practice both seated and standing poses as well as focus on balance and breath.  Please bring your own mat and any props you would like.

 

Cost:   

$12 per session, for single session     

OR   

$40 for a four-class pass

 

(Class passes may be used for any four yoga classes hosted by the Library Arts Center in 2021).  

 

Equipment:   

We recommend that participants bring their own yoga mats, and any other needed equipment.  Shared equipment is highly discouraged during the COVID-19 Pandemic.  Equipment for communal use will not be provided during this time.

 

Liability Waiver: 

All participants will be asked to sign a release of liability at least once annually to be able to participate in yoga at the Library Arts Center. 

 

Temporary Indoor Location:  Dance Arts Academy, Sunapee, NH  

Through Summer 2021, indoor classes will be meeting at Dance Arts Academy in Sunapee.  Stay tuned for when classes will resume at the Library Arts Center.  Chair Yoga will take place on the side lawn of the Library Arts Center.  All levels Outdoor Yoga will meet on the Newport Town Common.

Brianna Renner

Yoga Instructor, RYT-500, YACEP

Brianna Renner combines 20 years of dance training and her military background to create a safe, nurturing and mindful practice. She is the national Director of Programs for the Veterans Yoga Project (www.veteransyogaproject.org). She was a co-founder of the former Namaste Newport & Buttonwood Yoga Studio.

A New Hampshire native, Brianna served five years in the Marine Corps as an avionics technician at both MCAS Miramar in San Diego, and MCAS Iwakuni in Iwakuni Japan.  She is a perpetual student; using her GI Bill, she obtained her A.S in Engineering and a B.S. in Technical Writing/Mathematics/Technology.  More recently, Brianna became a graduate of  Soma Yoga Institute’s 300 hr advanced teacher training and Discovery Yoga’s 200 hr Kripalu teacher training.  In addition to classes at the Library Arts Center, she also teaches yoga at the VA in White River Junction, VT, and teaches dance classes at Dance Arts Academy in Sunapee, NH.
