Free! All are welcome. Bring a blanket or lawn chair.
The Summer Performances for Kids are a favorite Arts Center tradition for more than 20 years! Performances are free, fun, engaging and enriching. All ages are welcome. This year, our performances will take place at Newport’s community center, rather than the side lawn, as our lawn is currently re-seeding! Performances may take place indoors or outdoors, depending on weather conditions.

July 10th – Steve Blunt & Marty in Concert
A lively show with catchy tunes for singing and dancing, and lots of silliness! This duo features award-winning children’s musician, Steve Blunt, on vocals & guitar; author/illustrator, Marty Kelley, on drums & harmonica. Music is always more fun when friends come out to play–and this folk-rockin’ show invites people of all ages to join in with singing, dancing, shaker eggs & more! Music that is engaging and fun for all ages.
July 17th – Absolutely Magic with Andrew Pinard
Alejandro’s Olde Tyme Magik Showe is a wonderful one-man stand-up show with an emphasis on audience participation, visual magic, and physical comedy guaranteed to enchant and amuse the whole family. Blending classic magic and comedy with a little help from volunteer assistants, Andrew Pinard draws spectators into his zany world of wonder. This fast-paced show will captivate young children, while older children will be entertained by top-notch magic, as well as Pinard’s unique blend of humor.
July 24th – Silver Circus with Andrew Silver!
How do you do something as big as a circus when you’re only one person? In The Silver Circus, Andrew explores the concept of perseverance as he is faced with the daunting task of presenting a full circus show all by himself. The show touches on many important themes including, self confidence, overcoming obstacles, control, and dealing with failure. Featuring spectacular magic, juggling, physical comedy, and tons of audience participation, Andrew presents a one-of-a-kind exhibition of skill and comedy. By adapting techniques and themes from the new vaudeville clowns, Andrew has created a masterpiece of modern performance for every age level.
July 31st – Kathy Lowe in Concert
Beloved local musician Kathy Lowe has been a singer-songwriter since 1968, and creates music that is personal, universal, fun and profound! She is also a photographer, specializing in her “Petreflection” imagery that captures reflections in water in ways that are remarkable and earth connecting. Her fun, family-friendly concerts are both fun and inspiring, and will get you up and moving to her nature-inspired beats.
