Our summer Drop-in Art-Making Series begins today! Our summer Drop-in Art-Making Series begins today! 9:30-10:30am - FREE!⁠ ⁠ Tuesday morning drop-in sessions will take place in the LAC Studio this year (on the lower level of our building--rather than on the side lawn as they have in past years.) Today, drop in to add your mark to some colorful "art posts" that will be part of an installation outside of the Arts Center's main entrance for the duration of the summer.⁠ ⁠ We'll see you in the studio! All are welcome to participate, and all supplies are provided.
There are still spaces in our Needle-Felted Landsc There are still spaces in our Needle-Felted Landscape workshop this Saturday! If you’ve been meaning to join in, now is a great time! Students will be making felted beach landscapes similar to the one pictured (but without the wreath pictured.) Needle Felting: Landscape Painting in Wool: Beach Scenes 🏖️ 🌊 😎 This Saturday, June 14th, 9:00am-12:30pm Tuition: $50, including all materials Create an 8×10 felted beach scene landscape in this session, learning the skills of needle felting and using them to “paint” in wool to create a gorgeous beachy landscape. Follow step- by -step instructions but add your own twists and charm to make the scene uniquely yours. Pre-Register online at libraryartscenter.org/classes-for-adults/felting/
Summer is coming, and so are the Library Arts Cent Summer is coming, and so are the Library Arts Center's favorite annual 'Summer Performances for Kids'⁠ Thursday Mornings in July - 10:00am⁠ LaValley Family Community Center - 17 Meadow Rd. Newport⁠ FREE! All are welcome. ⁠ ⁠ The Summer Performances for Kids are a favorite Arts Center tradition for more than 20 years! Performances are free, fun, engaging and enriching. All ages are welcome. *As our side lawn is re-seeding this year, performances will take place at Newport's LaValley Family Community Center--either outdoors under the pavilion at Meadow Park, or inside the community center.⁠ ⁠ Performance Schedule 2025:⁠ ⁠ July 10th – Steve Blunt & Marty in Concert⁠ July 17th – Absolutely Magic with Andrew Pinard⁠ July 24th – Silver Circus with Andrew Silver!⁠ July 31st – Kathy Lowe in Concert⁠ ⁠ The Summer Performances for Kids are made possible by generous funding from the Friends of the Richards Free Library.
Drop-in LEGO Free-Build in the Gallery 🧱⁠ Thi Drop-in LEGO Free-Build in the Gallery 🧱⁠ This Saturday, June 14th – Drop in between 10:00-2:00⁠ Library Arts Center Gallery | FREE!⁠ ⁠ The Library Arts Center is pulling out its massive collection of Legos ready for creative free build! Lego lovers of all ages are welcome to stop in to free-build to your heart’s content. Stop in for as long as you like between 10am-2pm. All are welcome to participate. Open to all ages, children* and adults, *children must be accompanied by an adult⁠ ⁠ Free to participate, and all materials provided.
