📣ATTN: ARTISTS! This Wednesday 1/15 is the Entry Deadline for the Korn Alley Mural Project! ⏳️⁠

The Library Arts Center is spearheading the creation and installation of a new series of public art murals in Newport’s Historic Downtown District. This project will activate an under-utilized section of our downtown area, foster community pride and shared history, and spur greater economic development. Murals will be created in Winter 2025, and installed in the Spring. Themes themes have been crowd-sourced over the past year and reflect on what makes Newport, and the surrounding region, a wonderful place to be.⁠

The Library Arts Center is beyond proud to announc

The Library Arts Center is beyond proud to announce that it reached a milestone sales goal at Gallery of Gifts in 2024. This pop-up artisan market of gifts in the gallery during November and December reached an incredible $100,000.00 in sales on its very last day of this show that featured locally handmade items by 120 local and regional artists and artisans.

Items in the show were sold on commission, and 70% goes right back to the artists and the other 30% is a key piece of how the Arts Center will bring enriching arts experiences to the community in the coming year. This truly is the power of shopping locally and supporting what you believe in. The average sale at the show was around $65, and it was the pure volume of local supporters of the show that made us able to reach this lofty sales goal.

Thank you for your support! We are grateful to the artists and artisans who participated, the amazing volunteer and staff team who ran every aspect of Gallery of Gifts. We are also, beyond measure, grateful for every shopper who took the time to come in and support this sale. Thank you all! Together, we once again showed that local arts have a truly impressive impact on the local economy!

Exciting things are happening in preparation for the Korn Alley Mural Project! Artist Heidi Lorenz has begun the process of priming and preparing the panels for the selected artists (with awesome help from artist Mary Bourdon, and the team at LaValley Building Supply who helped to cut the panels to size!)
