Peeps are not the only national rage to take to our gallery, that’s right, Duct Tape does much more than patch and mend these days – it’s in vogue to create everything from wallets, hair accessories and clothes to sculpture and home décor out of this indestructible tape.  We challenge all kids and teenagers to create something spectacular out of duct tape this summer.  Get the imagination flowing and come up with a creative duct tape project for this challenge.

UPDATE: DEADLINE EXTENDED!  Please have entries to the LAC no later than Thursday, August 1st at 4:00pm.

Entries should be brought to the gallery between Tues. Jul. 23 – Fri. Jul. 26 (or by appointment the week of Jul. 29th, as we will be in and out of the gallery setting up the next exhibit) and will be on display in the West Gallery during our Fore Art and Arts in the Garden Exhibits.  All entries will be celebrated, and winners will be announced during the opening reception on Friday, Aug. 2, 5-7pm.

This challenge is FREE and open to all youth!

Contest Rules:

* One entry per child/teen.  Entries can be made by individual children, or groups of children.

* This is a children’s challenge.  Light guidance and assistance from parents or other adults is fine, but we ask that the creation be primarily done by the child or children entering the challenge.

* Any colors and styles of duct tape may be used

* Duct tape should be the primary material in each creation – however small amounts of cardboard etc. may be used for structural support as needed.

* Small non duct tape embellishments such as googley eyes or lace etc. may be used as long as the primary material used is: you got it, duct tape.

* Pieces entered will be on display from Aug. 2 to Sept. 13, 2013.
