Whether you’re picking up a watercolor brush for the very first time or looking to refresh and build your skills, this welcoming three-week class is a wonderful place to explore, experiment and create.⁠
⁠
Play with color, light and the beautiful unpredictability of watercolor as you learn techniques for washes, blending, reserving whites, color mixing and more. Through demonstrations, exercises and plenty of hands-on painting, we’ll explore subjects ranging from florals and still lifes to landscapes and water—while developing your own way of seeing and interpreting what you paint.⁠

We’ll also explore palettes and color theory and look to artists including Winslow Homer, Georgia O’Keeffe and Skip Lawrence for inspiration.⁠

Come ready to experiment, learn new techniques and enjoy the process of painting! Drawing experience is helpful, but this class is designed to welcome both beginning and continuing watercolor artists.⁠

The calendar has just turned the page to September, but we are already busy planning our highly-anticipated holiday artisan marketplace, brimming with great gifts for holiday gifting! The Library Arts Center is always looking for talented new local artists and crafters (both professional & amateur) to participate. ⁠ Our beautiful gallery space is transformed into an inspiring boutique-style setting filled with handmade items perfect for holiday gifting.  The gallery handles all the set-up, sales transactions and packaging--allowing artisans a beautiful venue to sell their work during the holiday season, but sparing all of the headache!⁠

September 3 – Handmade Greeting Cards with instructor Heidi Pauer⁠
⁠
Make some artful snail mail and pop it in the post office mailbox on your way out of the studio.  There’s nothing like receiving a handmade card from someone! This workshop gives you the time, space, materials, and guidance to make your own cards using collage techniques and your creative intuition. You will create one-of-a-kind cards to give to others! All materials included and no experience needed.⁠

These stand-alone studio art classes are a fun, welcoming, low-pressure way to try different art techniques and projects, while meeting other creative community members. Bring a friend or come alone, or heck, make it a date night! Beginners and seasoned artists alike will feel welcome and engaged in each of these sessions. All materials are provided for each session.⁠
